Western Oregon University seeks a full- or part-time non-tenure-track Instructor of Writing with expertise in Academic Writing for English Language Learners. Usual full-time teaching load will be 4 four-credit classes per quarter consisting of primarily College Writing I and II (sections for International Students) and a grammar of academic discourse class for international students.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in TESOL/ESL/EFL/Applied Linguistics or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience with ESL/ELLs at the post-secondary level
- Experience teaching college writing
- Skills and experience to motivate students from a range of academic, cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds
- Team-oriented willingness to participate in program development
- Excellent fluency and accuracy in spoken and written English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching/living overseas
- Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in ESL and its instructional program (i.e., record of on-going professional development)
- Proficiency in another language
