A Message from TESOL about young learners and advocacy

As the number of ELs continues to increase across the United States, the demand for bilingual education and dual-language immersion programs that serve these students has also increased. Unfortunately, many schools have been unable to meet this urgent need, and lack the sufficient funding to implement quality bilingual or dual-language programs for ELs and other learners, particularly in underserved communities.

The Supporting Young Language Learners’ Access to Bilingual Education (SYLLABLE) Act provides grant funding to schools across the country to create and improve bilingual education programs for disadvantaged student populations, including English learners.

Tell Congress to pass the SYLLABLE Act and provide funding for bilingual education programs for English learners. Send your representatives e-mails and tweets NOW.
